Travel Immunisations & Medicine in Hobart

We have a team of dedicated and friendly doctors and staff who will be pleased to assist you with your needs. We cover a comprehensive range of general and specialised medical services, including:

Eastern Shore Doctors specialise in family medicine. We know how important it is for families to have a doctor that knows and cares about them. Care is provided on a continuing basis with an emphasis on disease prevention and health promotion. Your family doctor is an important part of helping manage your family’s health and wellbeing. We value the trust that families have in our medical advice and seek to constantly update our medical knowledge.

Our service includes the physical, social, behavioural and psychological care of your family members. We are here with medical expertise when you need us, no matter how old you are or how small or large the problem. Our doctors enjoy the continuum of caring for families over several generations.


We have a number of experienced female and male doctors able to assist in women’s health issues. We have several female doctors who have a special interest and extra qualifications in women’s health. Our services include:

  • Pap smears
  • Breast examination
  • Sexually transmitted infections (STI) screening and advice
  • Contraception options, including Mirena and Implanon insertions (and removals)
  • Fertility issues
  • Pre-pregnancy planning and genetic testing for recessive diseases
  • Antenatal (Obstetric) care
  • Menopause advice and management
  • Osteoporosis
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Preventive health checks
  • Eating disorders
  • Cardiac checks (heart disease is the biggest killer of women)

We believe it is desirable for all women aged over 18 years to attend their GP every 2 years for a women’s healthcheck.

We understand that men have unique needs in terms of health and the way health services are accessed. We provide comprehensive Men’s Health services including:

  • Comprehensive preventative annual male health checks and screening for the detection of potential health issues 
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Prostate screening and prostate concerns
  • Erectile problems
  • Cardiac risk factor analysis
  • Sexually transmitted infections (STI) screening and advice
  • Diabetes management
  • Male menopause

At the time of booking the appointment, it is suggested you mention to Reception whether you need a full general medical so that sufficient time can be booked.

Our doctors are highly qualified to assess and manage the medical needs of your babies, children and teenagers. We provide advice and health checks to ensure your child is developing well and remains healthy and happy. We also can provide all necessary vaccinations and will remind you when they are due.

Our Practice understands the concerns a parent can have about their sick child and we recognise that babies and young children can become unwell very quickly. Our Practice Policy is to see babies and young children at short notice if a parent has serious concern. Simply inform the reception staff and they will look after your needs and ensure an appointment is made as soon as possible. Our reception staff may ask our nurses to assist in determining the urgency of care required.  

If your child has a need for immediate emergency care we advise you call 000 as your first source of medical advice.


All surgeries can administer those vaccines funded under the National Immunisation Program for children and adults. Please refer to your child's immunisation record book to ensure if they are up to date with their required vaccines. Click here to view the latest immunisation schedule.

We also offer seasonal "flu" vaccine clinics at all surgeries which commence around March/April each year. 

All surgeries can offer the whooping cough (pertussis) vaccine for adults which is not covered on the National Immunisation Program and needs to be purchased privately. The current recommendation is to receive a booster for whooping cough at least every 10 years or sooner if in close contact with newborn children.    

Our Shoreline Doctors Surgery can directly provide a range of travel vaccines at competitive prices. We are also an accredited Yellow Fever vaccine clinic which can be discussed with one of our doctors that have specialised travel medicine experience.  

Please contact our friendly reception staff to make an appointment. Please inform our reception staff member that you wish to have a vaccination when making an appointment to ensure sufficient time is allotted.

Eastern Shore Doctors provide basic and comprehensive health checks to manage and assess health status across the life span. Our doctors are supported by a Health Promotion Team comprising of nurses with experience and specialised qualifications in chronic disease management and health promotion.

The Health Promotion Team embrace a holistic approach to patient healthcare founded on a belief that comprehensive care provision must consider not only the physical aspects of an individual but also their psychological, social, economic and spiritual wellbeing. As such, the Health Promotion Team function in a dynamic patient centered manner, often working alongside families and carers to navigate the health system to ensure optimal outcomes.

The Health Promotion Team assist Eastern Shore Doctors with:

  • Care Plans
  • Annual Health Assessments for those 75 years and older- In the clinic or at your home
  • Diabetes Annual Cycle of Care Clinics
  • Diabetes Nurse Educator Clinics
  • Co-ordinated Veteran Care Program for eligible DVA Gold Card holders
  • Organising referrals for support including; home help, meal delivery, shopping assistance, transport assistance, continence aids and many others

In addition, Eastern Shore Doctors can provide the following common assessments:

  • Asthma Management Plans
  • Mental Health Plans
  • Health assessment for those aged 45-49 years of age
  • Type 2 Diabetes Risk Evaluation for a patient aged 40-49 years

Following review by your doctor, we can facilitate a range of minor surgical procedures in our well-equipped treatment rooms. 

These procedures may include:

  • biopsy and excision of skin lesions
  • repair of lacerations
  • Implanon insertions and removals (contraceptive implant)
  • resections of ingrown toenails
  • removal of cysts
  • other

Minor procedures require a longer consult. Please ensure you advise our reception staff upon making an appointment so that we can ensure adequate time is scheduled with your doctor. 

Hobart Skin Cancer Clinic

The Clinic offers a specialised service within Eastern Shore Doctors providing skin screening and care with modern, up to date computer technology. Our doctors and nurses have undergone additional specialised training to enable them to provide the best possible care and expertise for the detection and management of skin cancers.

We recommend regular skin cancer checks, particularly if you spend a lot of time in the sun for work or recreation. 

Our services include the following:

  • screening for skin cancers with skin mapping for future reference
  • treatment and management of skin cancers including cryotherapy, specialised creams and surgery
  • corporate skin checks

A skin check takes around 30 minutes to complete and involves looking at all areas of your body. Our Clinic is open weekdays 8.30am – 5pm.  Please phone us on 03 6245 0861 to arrange your skin check.

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in Australia, with 80% of all cancers diagnosed in Australia being skin cancer.  At least 2 in 3 Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer before the age of 70. Skin cancer causes more deaths than transport accidents every year in Australia

The earlier a skin cancer is detected the easier it is to cure and there are now many treatment options available.

Anything that is new or changing on your skin should be checked by your doctor.

Due to flooding and COVID 19 we have placed our travel Clinic on pause until further notice.

Our Travel Clinic is a fully accredited Travelvax clinic which operates from the Shoreline Doctors Surgery. Our aim is to provide a one-stop travel health consultation to make your preparations for travel as smooth as possible. We stock equipment and resources including vaccines, medications, first aid accessories, treatment kits and insect repellents onsite for your convenience. During your consultation with our experienced nurse and doctor, we will create a Travel Health Plan suited to your personal needs and itinerary. 

Services include:

  • Provision of vaccinations – we are a Yellow Fever Accredited Clinic
  • Preparation of documentation for carrying medication overseas 
  • Personalised vaccination booklets 
  • Travel health information 
  • Emergency assistance numbers 
  • Preventative and treatment medications 
  • Travel accessories

If possible, we recommend a consultation at least six weeks before departure. We request you bring the following to your consultation:

  • Travel itinerary
  • Any records of previous vaccinations

Employment medicals are now an integral component for any business when employing staff or assessing staff ability to perform general or specific tasks important to their job. 

Some of our common assessments include:

Diving Medicals 

Unfortunately our doctors are not able to perform dive medicals to meet Australian Standards AS 4005.1 for recreational divers, and AS/NZS 2299.1 for occupational/Commerical divers.

Hobart Pathology provides a pathology collection service at each of our three general practice surgeries for the convenience of our patients. The service is during morning hours and the actual hours can vary slightly at each surgery. Please refer to the opening hours on the back of your pathology request form.
